Whiteline 2 position adjustable swaybar with a base size of either 22mm or 24mm. Manufactured from solid high quality spring steel. Increases handling performance by reducing body roll and spreading lateral cornering forces more evenly across the tires. Allows for adjusting cornering balance (understeer vs. oversteer) by adjusting the roll stiffness front to rear. Supplied with high quality synthetic elastomer bushings and collars to limit lateral movement within the bushings.
Usually ships the next business day.
How does a swaybar work? The swaybar functions as a spring connecting the left and right side wheels at one end of the car. It allows the roll stiffness to be adjusted independently of the vertical stiffness thus preserving ride quality.
How can swaybars be used to control the handling balance? The percentage of the total roll stiffness that exists at the front axle versus the rear influences the handling balance (understeer vs. oversteer). Increasing the proportion of front roll stiffness (larger front swaybar) will increase understeer while increasing the proportion of rear roll stiffness will increase oversteer.
What are the drawbacks of a larger swaybar? Since a swaybar connects the left and right wheels, hitting a bump with one wheel will transmit force to the other wheel. An extremely stiff bar can cause jarring side to side motion and harshness. Additionally, an excessively stiff swaybar will cause the inside wheel to lift off the ground during hard cornering and potentially limit acceleration.
How does the Whiteline adjustable bar work? The adjustable bar uses multiple mounting holes for connecting the swaybar end links. This changes the lever arm applying force to the main section of the swaybar. A longer arm has greater leverage and therefore can more easily twist the bar while a shorter arm has less leverage. This allows a single bar diameter to provide a range of effective stiffnesses. Typically one hole matches the factory lever arm length whereas moving to an adjascent hole equates to a change in bar diameter of 1mm.
