Cobb's intake system combines the advantages of a short ram intake with that of a cold air system. This system utilizes several unique features in an effort to maintain optimal flow for performance while minimizing turbulence that can cause engine management problems. Features a conical cloth air-filter element with a CFD-designed velocity stack leading to a unique air flow straightener grid. The straightener grid smooths the incoming air flow as it passes through the mass air flow sensor for more precise readings and helping to eliminate the turbulence-induced "dead spots" that plague other intake systems. Plastic composite material reduces weight while offering better heat rejection properties for cooler intake temperatures. The optional SF airbox encloses the intake filter and recieves cold air from the front grille via the factory inlet duct. The airbox system separates the air intake from the engine bay heat while eliminating the problems of water ingestion that fender-mounted cold air intakes are prone to. ECU tuning is recommended.
