This RCM thermostat opens at a lower temperature compared to the factory thermostat allowing coolant to flow through the radiator sooner. Giving a head start for the radiator allows for more stable engine cooling under racing or other extreme operating conditions. Superior construction and strict quality controls also provides for better reliability of this very critical engine component.
This thermostat starts to open at 70°C (158°F) compared to 90°C (194°F) of the factory Subaru thermostat. It is fully open at 90°C (194°F) vs. 95°C (203°F) for the factory part.
