RCM's baffled oil pan kit takes its engineering cues from the oil pans developed by Prodrive for the rigors and extreme g forces experienced by Group N and WRC rally cars. This kit addresses many of the shortcomings of the factory wet sump design to reduce potential oil starvation under high cornering forces. The aluminum baffled enclosure insert surrounds the oil pickup and features one-way valves to reduce the movement of oil away from the pickup due to lateral g forces. This is engineered into an original genuine Subaru oil pan allowing it to meet Group N regulations. The pan is fitted with their titanium magnetic drain plug as well as an AN-8 port for oil return from an catch can, air oil separator, or specialized turbocharger setup. Both plugs are safety wired to prevent accidental loosening.
The oil pan kit is supplied complete with a new factory oil pickup fitted with RCM's pickup dampener. The rubber dampener is an ingenous solution to the problem of oil pickup failure by dampening the vibration that causes cracking at the heat affected brazed areas of the pickup. The rubber piece fits over the pickup and is intended to sit against the bottom of the pan to absorb vibration while allowing the free flow of oil into the pickup. Finally all new hardware and seals are included for ease of installation.
Note: Only MY2006+ version is stocked. Earlier version is sold on a special order basis. However, you can fit the MY2006+ version to earlier models including EJ20 non-twin scroll version (square pan type) by changing the oil dipstick and dipstick tube to the later model parts.
