Adjustable cam sprockets allow the timing of indvidual exhaust camshafts to be adjusted. Cam timing errors may exist simply due to manufacturing tolerances or due to alterations to the distance between cam and crank (machining the block and heads or changing the head gasket thickness). These timing errors can be corrected easily with these adjustable sprockets. Additionally, performance gains or changes to the peak power/torque rpm can be acheived through alteration of the cam timing.
RCM cam sprockets are machined from high strength 7075 aluminum alloy with an EN8 medium carbon steel center hub. Increased strength and reduced mass/inertia is achieved compared to the original factory pulleys. A vernier scale is provided for repeatable and accurate adjustment of the cam timing.
